Most of us have far more courage than we ever dreamed we possessed
“When I started the company I was
52 year old, had diabetes, lost gall bladder and most of thyroid gland. But i
was convinced that the best was ahead of me”.
-Ray Kroc, founder of McDonald’s
What you all desire is belief,
attitude, purpose and is rightly said by Anatole France that to accomplish
great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also
believe.
I am not going to tell you about
Ambani’s or Rata Tata although they are big name in business world but I will
tell you something new, something unheard- story of Akhilesh Bali who joined
Accenture in 2008 as a software engineer but after six month of service he
realized that he’s not meant for 9 to 6 job. He wanted to start something which
was easy on capital, easy to set up and unique in itself and came up with the
idea of “Mithamate”: India’s first branded sweet delivery service. Along with
two of his friend he started the venture and designed an online site- http://mithaimate.com. He’s quite sure that it
won’t be a cakewalk in a country like India where issues like freshness,
quality and apprehension on health risks if the sweets were spoilt of utmost
importance. Hence they decided to partner with known offline stores and
aggregate such stores that were famous and people know them for their quality like
in Nathu sweets in delhi etc by offering pan-India reach. They also hooked up
with expensive logistics companies like Blue Dart and FedEx to deliver sweets
at customer doorstep and came up with the concept of free redelivery, refunding
in case of any mishappening with sweets. Today the site has grown from getting
1-2 orders every week to about 40-50 orders in a day and the festive season is
a good hit. Their toothsome business idea enables parents, children or lovers
to make confectionary confessions of happiness, celebration and affection to
their loved ones across the Web.
It’s not just Akhilesh Bali, India
is flooded with examples of such innovative Entrepreneur along with Women
Entrepreneur who have shown that all you need is a dream and courage to
accomplish the same. The important thing is not being afraid to take a chance.
Remember, the greatest failure is to not try.
And in my opinion emergence of
such numerous small entrepreneurial firms
is much better than opening of a single MNC which not only encourage youth to
live their dream but also contribute significantly towards the society.
